Update: Whiskey Pete's Casino is open with additional safety measures in place. Whiskey Pete's Hotel is closed and not taking reservations.
Having first opened in 1977, Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino is the oldest of large casinos in Primm.
It has an 1800s mining town theme with more than 36,000 square feet of casino space featuring slots, table games, keno, and a race and sports book.
Whiskey Pete’s other draw is that it’s the home of Bonnie and Clyde’s Death Car.
Inside the casino at Whiskey Pete’s, you’ll find a large display featuring the car, memorabilia, a short movie, and a 1930s car that was once owned by another famous criminal, mobster Al Capone.
The property has a bank of Bonnie and Clyde themed slot machines adjacent to the exhibit.
In addition to the casino and hotel, Whiskey Pete's also offers a showroom with headline entertainment and several excellent restaurants including the Silver Spur Steakhouse.
When the hotel is open, Whiskey Pete's has an outdoor swimming pool for hotel guests with a water slide and tropical surroundings.
Whiskey Pete's also has a McDonald's inside. Whiskey Pete's is a good choice for families on a budget.
Whiskey Pete's offers deluxe rooms, Jacuzzi suites, and mini suites. It has a total of 777 rooms with two castle towers.
Rooms feature ironing boards, blow dryers, available in–room movies, available high speed and wireless Internet, and room service.
Deluxe rooms are about 310 square feet and can be requested either with a king bed or two queens.
Mini suites are over 600 square feet with two personal oval tubs with spa jets. Jacuzzi suites are 725 square feet with an oversized bathroom.
Deluxe room rates are typically about $40 on weekdays and $80 on weekends, depending on the season.
Whiskey Pete's Hotel is rated at two stars. It is typically the most economical of the hotel casinos in Primm.
The name Whiskey Pete lends its name for the Primm area's original western owner, Pete McIntyre. In the 1920s, in addition to his convenience store, Pete McIntyre also set up a bootlegging operation.
Thus, he became known as "Whiskey Pete" and was a popular figure in Primm history. The Whiskey Pete's property started as a small motel and casino in the mid-1970s and then was developed into a larger property shortly thereafter.
