Primm, Nevada is located about 250 miles northwest of Los Angeles on Interstate 15 adjacent to the Nevada–California border. It is the nearest Nevada gaming destination for many Southern California residents. Depending on traffic, visitors from Los Angeles can arrive in Primm in less than four hours.
Primm is home to three large casinos: Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino, Primm Valley Resort, and Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino. All three are owned by Primm Valley Resorts, which operates free shuttle buses between the three properties.
There was once a free single–car monorail, which was actually a tram, that provided access between Primm Valley Resort and Whiskey Pete's, which are on opposite sides of Interstate 15. However, the Primm monorail is now closed.
Primm Valley Resort is the smallest of the three offers hotel/casinos. It has a stately appearance with a country club feel, but still has slot machines, table games, and a sports book.
The Primm Valey Resort is the best place to stay for those looking to golf at Primm Valley Golf Club and offers stay and play packages.
Whiskey Pete's Hotel Casino is the oldest of three large casinos in Primm. It is the second largest and in addition to the hotel rooms and casino, has a large outdoor swimming pool with a water slide and spa tub, three restaurants.
Whiskey Pete's is the best place in Primm for families to stay on a budget. It is typically the most economical of the three hotels while still offering many pleasant amenities.
Buffalo Bill's Resort and Casino, which is currently closed, is the largest of the three hotel/casinos in Primm. In addition to hotel and gaming space, Buffalo Bill's also has the 6,500–seat "Star of the Desert Arena" and a pool in the shape of a buffalo.
For thrill seekers, it has the Desperado roller coaster, which is one of the fastest and tallest in the world. However, as of 2020, the Desperado roller coaster is closed with no planned reopening.
