Beyond its two excellent golf courses, swimming, or simply lounging around the pool at the Primm Valley Resort, Primm has numerous activities for those wanting to get into the outdoors.
These include activities such as hiking, photography, land sailing, kite buggying, hunting, rock climbing, and mountain biking.
Ivanpah Dry Lake Bed
The Ivanpah Dry Lake Bed, which is just south of Primm on the California side of the border, is a popular area for land sailing and kite buggying.
It’s a flat, level dry desert lake that unlike some of the dry lake beds near Jean, prohibits cars. This helps to keep the surface smooth and clean.

ISEGS With Clark Mountains
The Clark Mountain range, which has a peak elevation of 7,929 feet, is 20 miles southwest of Primm near Mountain Pass, California. It’s a popular rock climbing area and also has challenging hikes.
The upper portions of the mountain range is a sky island with increased precipitation. This gives way to a wide range of plant species and vegetation including pines, juniper, and white fir with an abundance of wildlife.
The desert terrain also includes Joshua Trees, Yucca Trees. and Creosote Scrub. The Clark Mountains are the northernmost part of the Mojave National Preserve.
Explore the Mojave National Preserve
South of Interstate 15 and the Ivanpah Dry Lake Bed, is a vast federally protected area, the Mojave National Preserve.
You can access the preserve within 20 minutes of Primm via Nipton Road. Within 40 minutes or Primm inside the preserve, you can hike on the Teutonia Peak Trail, view the Joshua Tree Forest, or explore the Cima Dome & Volcanic Field National Natural Landmark.

Mojave Desert Tortoises
There are also numerous wildlife species in the Primm area including the Gila monster, burrowing owl, nesting bird species, coyote, white–tailed antelope squirrel, and red-tailed hawk.
There are also lizards, endangered desert tortoises, the western diamondback rattlesnake, and Desert Bighorn Sheep, among others.
In addition to the chance to spot wildlife, hikers and photographers will also enjoy capturing the interesting desert scenery, Ivanpah Solar Power Facility, Ivanpah Dry Lake, mountains, and vegetation.

So while playing may be associated with gaming in Primm and its other activities, the nearby area has a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation.
From land sailing to rock climbing to mountain biking, there are a lot of ways to get out and experience nature and adventure in Primm.
You can also keep it simple with more relaxing activities such as golfing, hiking, photography, or simply driving and exploring the area.
While we have focused on the activities on the California side of the border near Primm, there is also lot to do north of Primm on the Nevada side.
The Seven Magic Mountains is a neat outdoor site near Jean with interesting earthwork art and trails.
There are also some hikes in the hilly terrain near Goodsprings and a wide range of options in the Las Vegas area.
